A Night with female:pressure

female:pressure ist ein weltweites Online-Netzwerk für Künstlerinnen und Kulturmacherinnen in elektronischer Musik und digitaler Kunst, das die Sichtbarkeit von weiblichen, non-binary und transgender Künstlerinnen fördert. An diesem Abend sind Loraine James (London), Donna Maya (Berlin), sowie die Kölner Künstlerinnen Monibi, Meryem Erkus aka Diana Jones und Waltraud Blischke auf der Bühne.

Loraine James (London)
North London native Loraine James is an electronic artist/producer (influenced by artists such as Aoki Takamasa, Telefon Tel Aviv and Toe) with a lot of promise and already a wealth of material. A master at crafting organic textures through inorganic means, she effortlessly blends Electronica and IDM with whispers of jazz and ambience all wrapped up in the artists key avant-garde aesthetic and sensibility. Having released her debut album ‘Detail’ in 2017 and winning The Oram award in 2018 (named after Daphne Oram), Loraine has gone on to play at Shankra Festival in Switzerland, Rye Wax and Splice Festival at Rich Mix.

Donna Maya (Berlin)
Donna Maya is a Berlin based musician, theremin player, dj and producer of electronic music. She explores the potential of the theremin and connects it to vivid multi-layers of sound samples, grooving bass lines and distinct rhythms. Her music navigates between noisy textures, tonal progressions and narrative phrases, continuously interacting together and constantly moved by the beat.

Monibi (Cologne)
Monibi is a French DJ based in Cologne, Germany. She's been honing her skills behind the decks since 2015 in Cologne's best clubs and on her bi-monthly radio show. Her sound draws heavily on a techno and house aesthetic, and shows a penchant for danceable electronica, afro-drums, syncopation and dark moods - always with a leftfield touch.

Meryem Erkus aka Diana Jones (Cologne)

Meryem Erkus aka Diana Jones works in the field of Art and Sound, curates the Ebertplatz Gallery Gold + Beton, is co-operator of Baustelle Kalk and the associated label baumusik. She organizes the series Sounds Wrong, Feels Right in Studio 672 or the NXNW Festival Sound & Unsound in cooperation with On Neue Musik.

Waltraud Blischke (Cologne)

Waltraud Blischke is a grande dame of club culture: she writes for testcard, Spex, Stadtrevue, Jungle World or the Ventil Verlag; with her texts and as a speaker, she is a voice of the German-speaking pop discourse. Blischke teaches at the Institute for Music and Media in Düsseldorf. As a DJ, she is located in the Cologne environment of a-musik and King Georg, in addition, she can be heard via dublab or Red Bull Music Academy Radio.
