NAHKO

Nahko was born to a Puerto Rican-American mother and Filipino father and grew up in a suburb of Portland, Oregon. Nahko began his musical journey at the age of 6 and traveled widely throughout his teenage years, wrestling with his identity, purpose and perception.

As a street musician selling CDs from his guitar case, he acquired a cult following. With his band Medicine For The People, Nahko made a commercial breakthrough in 2013, landing his album Dark As Night in the Top 10 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart. Medicine For The People played major festivals such as Outside Lands, Electric Forest, Wanderlust and Bumbershoot and sold out the 10,000-capacity Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado as headliners.

In 2020, Nahko turned his back on the music industry and retreated to rural Oregon to work intensely on himself and his relationship with the world. He returns with an album rich with the core qualities that have defined his career and delighted his fans for more than a decade - socially conscious, super-positive folk and rock laced with soulful alt-R&B, reggae and gospel - now embroidered with a nuanced disregard for "cancel culture," a wide-eyed reassessment of himself and a stylistic eclecticism that spans hip-hop, pop, trap and more.

On his seventh album, TRENCHES, Nahko Bear channels three years of personal revolution into his sound. Released September 1, the album reflects more than a thousand days of open-hearted self-exploration, eager learning/unlearning and radical inner recalibration.

"We've all been through so much in the last three years," Nahko muses. "The messages on this album will really resonate with people who have been through the trenches of this pandemic and whatever they've lost or gained. TRENCHES has something for everyone. A range of emotions from anger to responsibility and redemption to sadness, forgiveness and jubilation."

The day after the album's release, Nahko will build on his successful headlining tour of Europe in 2022 with another solo European tour, followed by a tour of non-traditional venues in the U.S. and festival appearances in Australia.

An event of prime entertainment GmbH.
