Klaeng Festival: Sternal solo // Cansu Tanrikulu feat. Greg Cohen & Tobias Delius // Marc Copland Trio

Open the windows, also at KLAENG! The festive Kla(e)ngbuch of the "Solo Edition" in the Corona year 2020 is now followed by the KLAENG Festival of Wide Views.

Sternal Solo

According to his own statement, pianist Sebastian Sternal is rather a group person. His various bands and ensembles, from the dynamic trio with Larry Grenadier and Jonas Burgwinkel to the lush jazz and classical soundscape of his "Sternal Symphonic Society", emphatically prove this. Now, however, the multi-award-winning pianist and composer is going one step further and can be experienced in the very smallest format: Sebastian Sternal solo, at last!

Cansu Tanrıkulu feat. Greg Cohen & Tobias Delius

With every ensemble, Cansu Tanrıkulu reinvents herself. The Ankara-born singer is an eloquent, risk-taking performer and, as a grassroots artist, open to all sonic colors and expressions between jazz and avant-garde. Since 2018 she has been playing in a trio with Tobias Delius and Greg Cohen, with whom she drifts through the adventurous sound worlds of their very own melodicism and emotionality. "Spooky moods," praised John Zorn. "Telepathic communication."

Marc Copland Trio

For almost 50 years now, pianist and composer Marc Copland has been demonstrating his magical feeling for incisive harmonies and lyrical melodies. Especially in his trios the whole beauty of his playing shines, which made Reinhard Köchl cheer: "The most versatile, exciting jazz pianist of the present, despite a Keith Jarrett, despite a Brad Mehldau, despite a Herbie Hancock!"
