Worlds Collide: CCJO feat. Stefan Bauer
As part of the band's 20th anniversary celebrations, the Cologne Contemporary Jazz Orchestra invites Stefan Bauer, a New York vibraphone soloist extraordinaire, whose compositions were arranged by guest conductor and CCJO founding member Ansgar Striepens.
The program is entitled "Worlds collide." Although originally chosen by Ruhrgebiet veteran Stefan Bauer as a mere working title for a composition triggered by the observation of wartime circumstances, it takes on a different, friendlier meaning here: the "worlds" of the Rhineland, the Ruhrgebiet and New York collide just as the CCJO collides with the musical world of Stefan Bauer.
Where in life often opposing spheres face each other, music offers again and again chances for bridge building, teamwork and coming together, for communication and inclusion, and last but not least for what all good art makes possible: inspiration!
This concert is part of the series Komponistenlandschaft NRW and is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Science NRW.
