With her project WAHNSCHAFFE, Cologne-based singer/songwriter Sofia Wahnschaffe expands the horizons of contemporary pop with fine guitar work, vocals full of character, complemented by sophisticated synth arrangements and beats. Her lyrics are personal, honest and spirited. Also shaped by everyday life in her Veedel.

Her mini-album 'Bumm Bumm Bumm', released in spring 2022, particularly reflects her emotional journey during the Corona pandemic: confronted with herself as never before, she faced the challenge of breaking free from old constraints, canceling a life plan and embarking on new paths. She went on a quest, opened up to her feelings and vehemently swam free. So 'Bumm Bumm Bumm' brings soulful German pop songs arranged with feeling and technical finesse, breathing the familiar sound of the 90s and paying tribute to the groove of groups like TLC and Destiny's Child.

Lightning Jules

Cologne-based musician Julia Zech and her friends invented her stage name 'Lightning Jules' in 2016 as a kind of ironic superhero in the style of old blues legends. Glamrock hairstyles, burning electric guitars and extravagant glasses provide laughter and ideas.

Years pass, projects emerge and dissolve, Zech finishes her studies with a year abroad in Paris, and when the pandemic cripples touring life, she dusts off stalled tracks and releases her debut EP 'Broken Record' as Lightning Jules in 2022. Indie-dream-pop in a synth-sound guise, influenced by Zech's indie-pop idols from the USA and Canada. The multi-instrumentalist creates together with her band a catchy free framework, which is carried by the nostalgic-modern sound of her vocals.
