Trondheim Jazz Orchestra feat. Ole Morten Vågan
The Trondheim Jazz Orchestra is one of Norway's most important big bands, internationally renowned thanks to projects with legends such as Chick Corea, Pat Metheny and Joshua Redman. The orchestra features Scandinavian jazz adventurers who have performed on our stage with their own projects, such as Sofia Jernberg, Signe Emmeluth and Gard Nilssen. The artistic director since 2017 is double bassist Ole Morten Vågan, one of Norway's most sought-after musicians, who will now present his own compositions.
Ole Morten Vågan has already written two programs for the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra: Happy Endlings (2018) and the follow-up album Plastic Wave (2021).
"The concept for this album came right after writing the music for Happy Endlings, which revolved around a kind of doomsday scenario in which the main characters are blissfully unaware of impending doom," says Ole."That may seem like a bleak backdrop for an album, but it also has an inherent comic side, a kind of apocalyptic slapstick humor that I like a lot."
