THERMAL was created in 2001 by three musicians with very different musical backgrounds - Andy Moor (The EX, Dog Faced Hermans), John Butcher (jazz and improvisation) and Thomas Lehn (classical piano before synthesizer explorations). The German-British trio came together in free improvisation and has been touring all over Europe for twenty years with its subtle and explosive music.
As a trio, they achieve "a perfect disposition of sounds and minds" as their music is "a journey down alternately smooth and rocky roads in a spectacle of intertwined magic." "But Thermal is not a brutal brawl - quite the opposite - behind the toughness and sweat lies a sophisticated sense of complicity and a clear sense of structure" writes Julian Cowley of WIRE.
