Tales from the Wooden Kingdom
feat. Cologne Contemporary Jazz Orchestra & Veronika Morscher
Invisible networks, countless faces and moods, colourful and full of the most diverse sounds - no, this time it's not about human habitat. Heiner Schmitz tells stories from the forest in his current project "Tales from the WOODEN KINGDOM". This sensitive system symbolizes a peaceful and yet sensitive coexistence, which may well serve as a blueprint for humans in their coexistence. Here, beauty and chaos, elemental force and tranquillity stand side by side, and so the pieces that the composer, who was awarded the WDR Jazz Prize in 2019, has written for the Cologne Contemporary Jazz Orchestra and the Austrian singer Veronika Morscher are not only to be understood as a multifaceted tribute to a unique habitat and fragile ecological system, but also as a small book of wishes for the future of our social coexistence.
