Studio Bosporus - The Tarabya Ensembles

The Tarabya Ensemble was founded in autumn 2016 by Christian Thomé during his stay at the Tarabya Cultural Academy. It consists of a pool of German and Turkish musicians, mostly from the fields of jazz, world music and improvised music. The members come together in changing formations. The basis of the intercultural project is the idea of a creative platform for the encounter of diverse musical styles of different origins, which stimulates a musical-artistic exchange between the countries and cultures. On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Tarabya Cultural Academy, Christian Thomé will present earlier line-ups, new ensembles and spontaneous improvisations on this evening in the Stadtgarten.

An event in the framework of the festival "Studio Bosporus" in cooperation with Stadtgarten Köln.

"Studio Bosporus" is an event of the Kulturakademie Tarabya in cooperation with Kunstraum Kreuzberg/Bethanien with the kind support of Stiftung Mercator and LOTTO-Stiftung Berlin. The Kulturakademie Tarabya is run by the German Embassy Ankara, the Goethe-Institut Istanbul bears curatorial responsibility.
