Songlines goes in search of honest, great pop music - always with the urge to discover something new. In the GREEN ROOM, amidst green bushes and under big trees, the Stadtgarten team presents this summer artists* who make every Friday something special.

Energetic atmosphere of departure! This is how Paul Weber felt last year when the young songwriter from Cologne started to make music together with new people and to try out new things in and with his music. In doing so he rediscovered himself and at the same time redefined himself as an artist.

The result is not only a new, more liberated, somewhat louder sound with very different facets. But also 5 new songs, recorded together with producer Wolfgang Stach (Guano Apes, Such a Surge, BAP, Jupiter Jones, Akua Naru, Nico Suave) in the legendary Maarwegstudio2 in Cologne. Suddenly there is a band that presents the new songs with a lot of joy of playing and interaction. Also new: Paul Weber, who has already been on stage together with artists like Dodie (Dodie Clark), Sam Fender, Nic Cester and Fortuna Ehrenfeld, is currently writing lyrics and singing in his mother tongue German. He has discovered that this is somehow more himself, more honest, more direct and yet more sensitive, because unlike in English you can no longer hide behind empty phrases and fillings.

The special thing: Lines with elaborate text paintings which, together with percussions and the guitars, as well as the unique timbre of the voice, paint colourful stories in which one can empathise deeply. Sometimes bright, sometimes rough, sometimes high, lively or expressive, Paul Weber sings about spotlight cones that show the way, windmills that turn the hands back or with reference to Bob Dylan about the memory of a past relationship that has shaped him and belongs to him, as well as the music of Bob Dylan. He skilfully uses his voice as another rhythm instrument. The result: character pieces with a lot of soul, a positive mood and sometimes a slightly melancholic twist. Poetic pop with India notes and depth. Music according to his own feelings.
