Songlines mit Avi & Ahmed

Songlines goes in search of honest pop music - always with the urge to discover something new. In the GREEN ROOM, amidst green bushes and under large trees, the Stadtgarten team presents this summer artists* who make every Friday something special.

With a small and a big fiddle, Avi & Ahmed create an anarchistic sound. From their joint playing experience of the most diverse styles such as jazz, classical music, oriental music, klezmer, folk, blues and funk, they have developed their own approach that breaks with traditional playing standards.

The harvest of years of improvisation is a familiar freedom in composing, arranging and playing together. A deep intimacy between explosive and melancholic moments is formed; a subtle dynamic in which they form their own orchestral sound body - undefined by external rhythm and harmony instruments. In this way an organic structure of surfaces, spherical sounds, groovy rhythms and virtuoso solos is created.

Avi & Ahmed got to know each other 7 years ago while studying jazz in Cologne and have been playing with the band "Bukahara" in clubs and at festivals all over Europe ever since. Travelling and touring in various social contexts, where they always meet and touch new people, are on the one hand the inspiration for this duo project, but at the same time they are also a place of longing for a more serious music, in which they can immerse themselves, lose themselves and find themselves again.
