SoKo Steidle + Alexander von Schlippenbach
Jubiläumstour 2023
A wholly idiosyncratic and timeless sound characterizes SoKo Steidle. The Berlin-based troupe has turned to free improvisation, a style of playing born out of musical necessity that is celebrated more than ever around the world today. The quartet's namesake and winner of the 2022 German Jazz Prize in the "Drummer of the Year" category, Oliver Steidle , like his colleagues Rudi Mahall , Henrik Walsdorff and Jan Roder , ranks among the spearhead of the international avant-garde. They produce enormously versatile and atmospheric sound creations that range from rivalry to harmonious interplay. Spontaneity and freedom in playing and the necessary responsibility to create without guidelines are the important foundations of their music.
For their 20th anniversary, a new album came out in November 2022 - featuring veteran Alexander von Schlippenbach , who will also be a guest at all concerts on SoKo Steidle's 2023 anniversary tour.
The concert will be followed by a conversation between Alexander von Schlippenbach and music journalist Michael Rüsenberg as part of the "Speak Like A Child" series.
Rudi Mahall (bass clarinet), Henrik Walsdorff (alto saxophone), Jan Roder (baritone saxophone), Oli Steidle (drums), Alexander von Schlippenbach (piano)
