reiheM präsentiert: Valentina Magaletti / Elisa Metz
reiheM presents a solo performance by British-Italian drummer, percussionist and composer Valentina Magaletti. The Bari-born Londoner has made a name for herself through an almost superhuman amount of different collaborations, which sharply scratches at the label "world class". What is striking here is the diversity of styles probably only dropped in the UK with such a matter of course. She expanded the duo Raime into the trio Moine, with the Jungle producer Al Wootton she explored Dub as Holy Tongue and collaborated with Steve Beresford, with Tomaga it was Pierre Bastien who joined the duo's drum-synth library collages. In Vanishing Twin she plays with Cathy Lucas, for the duo V/Z with Zongamin Coby Sey contributed lyrics, producer Marta Salogni, who mixes bands like Depeche Mode, is a companion. Valentina lent her playing to gamelan projects like Nist-Nah, surreal pop goddess Lafawndah or the "Can-Project" in place of Jaki Liebezeit. Since almost all of the still active constellations also perform, it is, despite highly acclaimed individual releases, a rare stroke of luck to experience her "non-macho approach to drumming" in this highly exciting discipline of solo drumming.
As a percussive/non-percussive counter-design, Elisa Metz will play her glockenspiel-like glass instrument "Nine Wands," which she designed and built in 2020 from found objects from a glass shop, augmented with effects and modular synthesizers. The native Hessian and Cologne resident otherwise performs on stage in various formations with a short scale bass and releases pop as Henry Lee. She works as a designer and has been the editor of grapefruits, a fanzine about female composers and sound artists, and minneola, a podcast by and for female musicians, for several years.
