Zwei Sets stehen an diesem Abend auf dem Programm von KLAENG - Die Serie #17:

Das bergseidlduo feiert sein CD Release „The Garden“ auf KLAENG RECORDS. Ihre Musik ist gekennzeichnet durch gegenseitiges Vertrauen und die klangliche Verschmelzung von Posaune und Klavier. Und Peter Brunn’s „All Too Human“ bringt uns mit Pianist Simon Toldam, Gitarrist Marc Ducret und Trompeter Kasper Tranberg in die musikalische Nähe von natürlichen und Mensch-gemachten Paradoxons.

Seit einigen Jahren treffen sich Henning Berg und Simon Seidl regelmäßig zum Proben und Ausprobieren. In der Zusammenarbeit entwickeln sie ihre eigene harmonische und rhythmische Sprache, in der jeder gleichzeitig Sender und Empfänger ist und die beiden großen gestalterischen Freiraum bietet. Das Duo ist eine ideale Gelegenheit, ungewohnte Spiel-Ideen zu testen und zu verfeinern.

Es wird viel gemeinsam improvisiert und nur so wenig arrangiert, wie es für die ausgewählten Eigen- und Fremdkompositionen unbedingt notwendig ist. Flexibilität, aber auch Rückgrat im Umgang mit Time und Form, gegenseitiges Vertrauen und die klangliche Verschmelzung von Posaune und Klavier kennzeichnen diese Musik.

Der Zuhörer wird Zeuge eines musikalischen Dialogs zwischen zwei gleichberechtigten Partnern. Sie haben sich trotz oder gerade wegen ihres unterschiedlichen Alters - Berg ist Jahrgang 1954, Seidl 1988 – sehr viel zu sagen.

Peter Bruun’s All Too Human - "BECAUSE YOU’RE WORTH IT"

Less is more’ is a well-known saying. It’s an oxymoron because of its paradoxical nature. Paradoxes take us beyond ingrained patterns of perception, reasoning and action. That’s what is in the expression as coined by the old Greek. This newly formed unit’s music is simple without being simple. It sounds vaguely familiar and strange at the same time. It resembles a lot known and nothing known. It has a fairytale quality and as we know, in fairy tales lots of wondrous things can happen. Down to earth and far remote, avant-garde and in the vernacular, accessible and beyond is this music. Drummer Peter Bruun from Copenhagen has been aware through his musical career of the creative potential and power lurking in paradoxical manoeuvres. In this new unit he has gathered three like-minded musical fellows under the All Too Human (ATH) flag. Through the years he undertook a lot of terra incognita expeditions with pianist Simon Toldam, guitarist Marc Ducret and trumpeter Kasper Tranberg. It connected and connects them on deeper levels in their musical interaction. Does the ATH flag then signal some kind of shift down or reinvention? Yes and no!

The group’s music combines the unimaginable with acceptance of the evident (like in fairy-tales). It becomes manifest in Bruun’s own role serving the bass function with his right hand via a keyboard and drumming with his left hand simultaneously. 1+1 =1 in this case. Presenting familiar things in an unfamiliar light to trigger experiences of joyful surprise is at the core of entertainment and it is at the core here too. The inviting music might remind listeners vaguely to some known things, might for some have a touch of Bowie’s “Space Oddity” or of David Lynch cinematics but during the next minutes it’s always melting down and morphs into a surprising clear gestalt of its own due to the crystal sharp guitar of Marc Ducret, Toldam’s shimmering vintage keyboards and Kasper Tranberg’s clouding over trumpet. Sharp, clear and forceful with a strong inner swing and a hot, burning lava kernel, their music offers a solid and igniting ground to enter the joyful communal game of listeners/audience and artists of giving transient significance to the sounds.
