Paul Heller Invites: Fay Claassen & David Linx feat. Magnus Lindgren

This is truly a summit meeting in straight-ahead jazz and definitely one of the highlights of the live jazz summer: Paul Heller brings together two of Europe's best jazz vocalists with virtuoso Swedish multi-instrumentalist Magnus Lindgren in the latest edition of his "Invites..." series! Lindgren is a recent Grammy winner, awarded for Best Arrangement in an Instrumental Production for the song Scrapple from the Apple with the SWR Big Band.

Fay Claassen and David Linx define European big band jazz on their brilliant album And Still We Sing with the WDR Big Band. The album title is a paraphrase of Maya Angelou's famous poem "...And Still I Rise," and indeed, Fay Claassen and David Linx continue to rise as well, refining the striking variability of their voices and moods, using each new ensemble and arrangement for refined techniques, bursting timbres and deep emotion. Thanks in no small part to Lindgren's fine sense of ensemble, which saxophonist, composer and arranger Paul Heller has handpicked, so to speak, one can expect great things.
