NICA live: Pablo Gīw presents UASSYN

In addition to the music and projects of the NICA artists themselves, NICA live also brings musicians and bands on stage who are appreciated by the NICA artists personally. Trumpeter Pablo Gīw – NICA artist since 2019 – now invites the trio UASSYN to Cologne.

Alto saxophonist Tapiwa Svosve, Silvan Jeger on double bass and drummer Vincent Glanzmann form the Swiss trio UASSYN. Started in 2015, the band rehearsed and rehearsed in secret for the first two years. What followed: numerous discussions on scuffed curbs, piroggi in Polish rest stops, "street art sessions" in the public space of Zurich and tours abroad. Always driven by the ambition for collective growth. In 2021 followed the release of the debut album ‚ZACHARYA‘ as part of the Jazz Thing Next Generation series on Double Moon Records. Progressive, original and non-linear, the three musicians do not see themselves as a band, rather as a social construct, always in exchange with artists of different genres who share a similar vision. Their songs have a hypnotic, energizing effect in their beat-heavy nature. In the words of journalist Tom Gsteiger, "UASSYN reinvent the sax trio, in a sense, by combining the spirit of free jazz with a very, very mysterious, but definitely physically experiential beat culture."
