NICA live: NEX:XUS

Initiated by the Cologne trumpeter and composer Heidi Bayer and the Berlin-based Israeli composer and singer Efrat Alony, the newly formed ensemble NEX:XUS will come together for this evening for the first time as part of "NICA live".

All participating musicians compose for the project and contribute the experience of their various musical careers and cultural backgrounds, creating a common voice based on humanity and empathy. With these values in mind, the musicians from Austria, the Netherlands, Denmark and Germany engage in an authentic dialogue, inspired by echoes of classical music combined with ideas from contemporary European jazz. According to the band's name, which is borrowed from Latin, the musicians sensitively create intensive connections.

Heidi Bayer has been supported by NICA artist development since September 2020. With the performance of this new, international band, Bayer says goodbye to the funding programme on this evening.
