Multiphonics Festival: Kris Davis „Save Your Breath“

Kris Davis' advice sounds casually underplayed: Save your breath, save your breath. But that's so easy to say when you're already breathless with amazement listening to the sound cosmos of the brilliant Canadian pianist and composer, who is now on a par with Myra Melford and Geri Allen. "Downbeat" celebrated Kris Davis as "Rising Star Pianist" in 2017/18, she has been playing with her own quartet since 2002, was co-founder of the innovative RIDD Quartet in 2008. In 2014 the clarinets came into play: together with the most distinguished, US clarinetists, the quartet Save Your Breath was formed as a creative summit meeting of piano, electronica and clarinets, bass clarinets, contralto clarinets as well as contrabass clarinets for the particularly profound depth. Now Kris Davis reinterprets the fascinating approach of Save Your Breath: Her current ensemble with two top European clarinetists, the "unbridled" bassist Miles Perkin as well as the percussionist Jim Black bursting with energy received the composition commission of the Multiphonics Festival 2022!
