KLAENG die Serie #24: Kintopf/Knörr // boy who ate the sun
Kintopf/Knörr
In their joint duo, Lina Knörr and Roger Kintopf open up a space in which there is room for expression, beauty and vulnerability. Between the distance but also the unexpected closeness of their two instruments, the two musicians create space to allow intuition and honesty. The music that emerges in this space is always allowed to remain questioning and fragile.
Whether as one body of sound or each exposed and distanced, the duo captures its music as a centered search for shared moments.
boy who ate the sun.
Australian guitarist and vocalist Ula Martyn-Ellis' band plays music that tells stories. A contemporary jazz trio that knows how to use the narrative of singer-songwriters; whose raw, transparent sound and dense musical communication is lyrical in nature. Complemented by Calvin Lennig on double bass and Lukas Schwegmann on drums, boy who ate the sun break down simple forms through improvisation, infusing the immediate into the pre-written.
Ula Martyn-Ellis (guitar, vocals, composition), Calvin Lennig (bass), LukasSchwegmann (drums, percussion), Lina Knörr (vocals), Roger Kintopf (double bass)
