Jonas & JAKI: Mette Rasmussen & Ole Morten Vågan

The drummer Jonas Burgwinkel invites with his new concert series to a musically diverse evening. In each edition of Jonas & JAKI, outstanding musicians of the Cologne jazz scene meet international guests, whose music is presented on the respective evening.

Danish alto saxophonist and composer Mette Rasmussen is a force of nature on her instrument. Musically devoted to improvised music and the concepts of free jazz, Rasmussen has worked with musicians such as Chris Corsano and Ingebrigt Haker Flaten in her own Trio North and is an integral part of Gard Nilssen's Supersonic Orchestra.

Ole Morten Vågan is a Norwegian double bassist and composer. Vågan is also part of Gard Nilssen's Supersonic Orchestra and the artistic director of the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, which will be a guest at the Stadtgarten concert hall on Oct. 03. One of the most sought-after bassists on the Norwegian jazz scene, Vågan captivates with a versatile expression on the instrument, whether in large or small formations, as a bandleader or sideman.

Both musicians were guests at Stadtgarten at the end of last year - Rasmussen with her Trio North and Vågan with Thomas Strønen's project Time Is A Blind Guide. To be able to experience these versatile musicians in an exclusive formation with Cologne's own Jonas Burgwinkel is worth it three times over in the sense of the trio!
