A premiere: Joachim Kühn and Matthias Schriefl have never played together as a duo in public before. But you can imagine how the sparks fly when they meet. Over there is the almost 80-year-old pianist, who still doesn't miss the opportunity to cross blades with open sights, to whom over there the almost 40 years younger trumpeter and multi-instrumentalist accepts and counters this challenge with chutzpah. But both are jazz musicians too much with body and soul, to whom the competitive is basically alien and they much prefer to look for the manifold possibilities of interaction, communication and dialogue with playfulness and humor ... and also find them.

The musical cosmopolitan Joachim Kühn and multi-instrumentalist Matthias Schriefl met 15 years ago in the European Jazz Ensemble. Back then they already made the plan to form a duo together. When they met again at the German Jazz Festival Frankfurt in 2019, they spontaneously played together backstage for an hour and the plan matured. Now, at Stadtgarten, after a few days of rehearsing together, the two are performing in public as a duo for the first time.
