Jazz at JAKI: Or Bareket

The music of Israeli bassist and composer Or Bareket is true world music: born in Jerusalem to parents with Moroccan, Iraqi, Argentinian and Eastern European roots, he shuttled between Buenos Aires and Tel Aviv in his youth and has lived in the multicultural metropolis of New York since 2011, where his skills as a bassist immediately caught the eye. Aside from his dexterity, his voluminous sound, lyricism and keen instinct for grooves stand out. In his music, Or Bareket incorporates influences from the Near and Middle East, the Maghreb and Latin American folklore to make them merge into vibrant, refreshing jazz. When he now comes to Cologne, he will present the music from his third album 'Sahar', which was released in spring 2022.
