Fabian Dudek Quartett feat. Ingrid Laubrock

Cologne saxophonist and composer Fabian Dudek and his quartet, which has formed in 2017, are constantly breaking new ground and exploring what is unknown to them. The release "Isolated Flowers" (2021, Traumton Records) was longlisted for the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik. Now the four musicians are once again exploring something new: Brooklyn-based German saxophonist Ingrid Laubrock is joining the existing formation. The line-up will rehearse together for a week, record an album and play two concerts. One of them will be at Stadtgarten Köln.

For the first meeting between the quartet and Laubrock, Dudek has composed a new programme that eliminates restrictions, prejudices and expectations and concentrates on the freedom of the moment. The compositionally set structures and rules are there to be broken, reformulated and expanded. The collective collaboration is encouraged. Egotistical virtuosity and profiling are overboard.
