Cologne Jazzweek: Jim Black & The Shrimps

In the second year of Corona, drummer Jim Black began to feel restless and was looking for new, musical challenges. As a result, he formed the quartet The Shrimps with Asger Nissen (alto sax), Julius Gawlik (tenor sax) and Felix Henkelhausen (bass). With these young Berlin musicians, Black plays stylistically open, rhythmically explosive and raucously energetic improvisational music that sounds as urgent as only a new beginning can.
