The journey continues. Also in 2023 unique artists:inside of the Cologne, German and international jazz scene will be experienced on the many stages throughout the city. Whether in the Stadtgarten, LOFT, King Georg, Open Air, the Ehrenfeld-Clubs or our new venues in the Filmhaus, the Klaus von Bismarck Sendesaal in the WDR or the Philharmonie - new encounters will arise and new stories will be written. Be part of the festival summer 2023 and dive into the wonderful world of improvised music!

With her compatriot, drummer Tamaya Honda, Japanese koto virtuoso Michiyo Yagi has been playing together since 2007. For their improvisational music, in which the two often integrate elements of the world's musical cultures, Yagi and Honda like to bring in a guest as a third member. For their concert at Cologne Jazzweek, their choice is Norwegian bassist Ingebrigt Håker Flaten, with whom Yagi first collaborated in 2005. The three of them will experiment with an explosively powerful improvisational approach.
