Cedric Burnside © Abraham Rowe
Cedric Burnside lives, breathes and feels the Mississippi Hill Country Blues - the more danceable, wilder version of the classic Delta Blues - like no other. The singer, guitarist and drummer is thus completely in the tradition of his ancestors: on the one hand his father, the blues drummer Calvin Jackson, but above all his grandfather R.L. Burnside, who is considered the great legend of Mississippi Hill Country Blues.
In 15 years Cedric Burnside has recorded nine albums in changing lineups - sometimes with family members who also play music, sometimes with other greats of the genre such as Lightnin' Malcolm and Bernard Allison. For the last two records - "Descendants of Hill Country" with his Cedric Burnside Project as well as for his first solo album "Benton County Relic" - he was nominated for a Grammy, on top of that he already won the Blues Music Award four times. Now Cedric Burnside comes on tour to Germany with his current work "I Be Trying".
