Brandon López – Ingrid Laubrock – Tom Rainey

Musical interaction without planning or agreement makes the music of this international trio shine!

The German saxophonist Ingrid Laubrock studied in Great Britain, lives now for many years in New York and is one of the most inventive improvisers and composers of the scene. Her collaboration with the US-american drummer Tom Rainey has been going on for a long time. The 65-year-old's nonchalant playing impresses with its relaxed precision. The two experienced musicians wanted an extension of their duo, and after a first musical meeting in 2017 at the atmospheric club Barbès in Brooklyn, the decision was made for Brandon López, born in 1988. The double bassist's projects operate on the boundaries of jazz, free improvisation, noise and new music.

‚No es la Playa‘, the trio's first album, was released in February 2022 on the Swiss label Intakt Records. Six improvisations can be found on it and the liner notes suggest a trio constellation on the same kind of common ground: "From the very first note, the chemistry between the three is right. The interplay works so effortlessly and naturally that it almost borders on telepathy. The three wanted to use the momentum and capture the magic moment".
