Jazz music fraternities have always existed and will continue to exist. And who could appreciate the joys of equal interests among siblings more than Paul Heller, himself part of a swingin' brotherhood. Incidentally, his brother Ingmar shares his passion for large-format orchestras – one as a saxophonist of the WDR Big Band, the other as a bassist of the NDR Big Band. Both have more or less simultaneously discovered their passion for music and making music. Later they found their love of jazz, shared a stage with each other, only to separate peacefully at some point - aiming to go their own ways - and later reunite for projects for a short time. However, only few siblings reveal such a strong will not to carry out a professional cell division, but to shape their careers together in the long term. This alone makes them special: The Wasserfuhrs from Hückeswagen.
In 2003, when Julian was only fifteen, the trumpeter was awarded the Soloist Prize at the national "Jugend jazzt" competition - already then pianist Roman, who is two years older, was at his side. Still as teenagers, they made their debut and have proved to be inseparable to this day.
Whoever now assumes that every family get-together is all about jazz, jazz and more jazz - far from it: Julian and Roman not only provide for acoustic, but also for physical well-being! Together they brew their own beer - of course a "jazz beer". "Schnaff" is the word, a Wasserfuhrian word creation as a sizzling alternative to "Prost" or "Cheers".
By the way, their music has little to do with "beer-jazz", the cheerful early pinting Dixieland. But they do have something culinary to offer, in double aspects.
Paul Heller (tenor saxophone), Julian Wasserfuhr (trumpet, fluegelhorn), Roman Wasserfuhr (piano), Markus Schieferdecker (double bass), Bodek Janke (drums, percussion)
