CANCELLED: NDR Bigband feat. Frank Delle Trio

Originating from the roots of a pure radio ensemble, the NDR Bigband has developed since the 1970s into an ensemble that not only serves a comprehensive jazz repertoire, but also sets its own impulses - expands genre boundaries, performs with world stars and brings them to concerts in all corners of the republic.

Right on the outside, first row: Frank Delle sits on the edge of the NDR Bigband seating plan. The saxophonist, who grew up in Bremerhaven and trained in Hamburg, has been responsible for the deep voice of the tenor saxophone for one and a half decades. When Delle recorded a CD under his own direction six years ago, he chose the setting of a trio with double bassist Robert Landfermann and drummer Jonas Burgwinkel, two of the most enthusiastic instrumentalists of the younger German scene. In his project for big band and trio, which is one of the Studio 1 concerts of the NDR Big Band, the saxophonist now uses the tension between the small and the large format.
