Cologne Jazzweek: Extra

Extra is the electro-acoustic trio of the New York trumpeter, electronic musician and composer Peter Evans with the Swedish bassist, electronic musician and producer Petter Eldh and the American drummer and electronic musician Jim Black. Extra! is another of his current projects that Evans is presenting this year as "Artist In Residence" at Cologne Jazzweek. Evans has already played with Eldh and Christian Lillinger in the quartet Amok Amor. He has also played with Black in various band projects for many years. In Extra! they experiment with sound colors, dynamic processes, forms and structures on compositions by Evans. In addition to his projects as a jazz trumpeter, Evans is also a pioneering artist in the field of new music. He became known through the quartet Mostly Other People Do The Killing, gives baroque concerts on the piccolo trumpet and is a member of the International Contemporary Ensemble.
