In the 17th year of its existence, the Cologne Contemporary Jazz Orchestra presents its fourth CD "Expat Echoes".
After the journey of the releases so far led from the Argentinian music of Gabriel Perez to the Odyssee set to music by Heiner Schmitz to the music of the heavy metal band Slayer, the arranger and lead alto of the CCJO Marko Lackner is now responsible for the program of the latest CD, which will be released in September 2019 by the Cologne label Float Music.

As an "assimilated foreign Austrian" who has meanwhile established himself in Germany and has felt at home for a long time, Marko Lackner seeks to explore his Austrian origins in this programme written especially for the band. Marko Lackner develops his compositions at the interface of alpine singing, jazz orchestral sound aesthetics and contemporary urban vitality. He does not shy away from combining elements of different currents in order to achieve an authentic style through the playful development of the material, which expresses his personal view of contemporary orchestral jazz.
