Week of Surprise | 11.-16.10.2021

One of the great annual Stadtgarten highlights, the Night of Surprise, took place this year, due to corona, not as a long night of experimental music, but as a six-day festival from October 11 - 16, 2021 at Stadtgarten, Klub JAKI, Christuskirche and Galerie Martina Kaiser.

At the "Week of Surprise" the audience was in for a week full of musical surprises, aberrations, oases and discoveries. The program of this interim format focused on niches of the European musical landscape in more concert-like formats and projects of some darlings of the last festival editions, local projects and new collaborations.

Included were Peter Evans & Elias Stemeseder, Sofia Jernberg & Alexander Hawkins, Julien Desprez' Abacaxi, Now My Life is Sweet Like Cinnamon, "Occam Ocean - Delta X" by Eliane Radigue (played by Zinc & Copper), Of Cabbages and Kings, the installation "Creating Reality" (Siegfried Koepf & Bernd Härpfer), Fred Frith & Lotte Anker in a meeting with local improvisers, DJ Marcelle, Kampire, Judith Haman "Shaking Studies" / "Music for Cello and Humming" and many more.
