The SUMMER JAZZ FESTIVAL premiers with three outstanding concerts at the Stadtgarten Cologne. Despite the cancellation caused by illness of Carla Bley, with THE BAD PLUS, ANDY SHEPPARD & ESPEN ERIKSEN TRIO und ENDANGERED BLOOD we are happy to present three groups that are rare to see in this combination.
With their new pianist Orrin Evans, the amaerican supertrio THE BAD PLUS comes back to the Stadtgarten with a new exciting sound.
As a first result of the collaboration of ANDY SHEPPARD, who also would have been a part of the trio of CARLA BLEY, and the ESPEN ERIKSEN TRIO, they have just published their first album "Pefectly Unhappy" on the legendary norwegian label Rune Grammofon. Next to pieces of the album, they will play pieces by Carla Bley.
Just last November, drummer Jim Black, who is well known for his innovative style, was one of last years concert-highlights. Now he comes back with his group ENDANGERED BLOOD, again with two saxophone players, Chris Speed and Oscar Noriega, as well as the bass player Trevor Dunn.
Three days in the summer with the best JAZZ has to offer today.

Yesterday we were informed that Carla Bley was hospitalized in New York. Therefore she had to cancel a concert or tour for the first time in her long career.
While the concerns about her health is standing before everything – after all the turned 82 in may – we have to solve the problems resulting out of this situation. The concert was nearly sold out.
Andy Sheppard, who would have been a part in Carla Bley's trio, offered to play with the Espen Eriksen Trio. We think this is a great idea. The quartet is well-rehearsed, will play pieces of Carla Bley among their own and since we fly the four in from London and Oslo it will be an exclusive concert.
The tickets for the concert on July 17th 2018 as well as the festival tickets for SUMMER JAZZ (including June 16th/17th and 20st) remain effective.
Off course we offer to give back already bought tickets. Our ticket provider "ticket i/o" will recompense the whole price along with all pre-sale fairs. This also applies for the festival tickets. Only the extra costs for already ordered hard tickets can not be refunded.

All tickets that are not wished to be refunded by 10.07.2018 remain effective for the concert of "Andy Sheppard and Espen Eriksen Trio" on 17.07.2018.
