The Tom-Tom Discotec opens the year with a decelerated promise: A layback program that doesn't come across as sleepy, but stylishly shimmering. To kick things off, JAKI invites you to the first sound clash of the year - and at the same time to the first musical showdown between three Cologne record stores. An evening with a clear premise: Too Slow To Disco.

Slow is not a flaw here, but a method.

From the city center, Groove Attack sends none other than Twit One - producer, DJ, flaneur between soul grooves and jazz dust. Someone who doesn't force the dance floor, but lets it breathe gently in motion.

Further north, Hauptsache Musik relies on long-time collaborator, DJ and radio host Keri Y. She serves the analog spectrum between Balearic breeze, soul shimmer and carefully curated slow jams. Her set: a quieter glow that lingers for a long time.

And from Südstadt, Der Plattenladen enters the ring - represented by Alex FireBall, an authority for all those who were socialized between reggae, dub and dancehall in Cologne in the 2000s. For this evening, however, he has dusted off his rocksteady jewels: warm, unagitated and precise like a well-oiled bassline.

Three stores, three voices, three speeds - united in a clash that doesn't want to be a clash, but rather a dialog of tempos.
