The Future of Fashion: Renting clothes!
Fashion is fun - unfortunately, the fashion industry is not.
Our pleasure in self-expression must not lead to the exploitation of people and nature.
Instead of promoting new production, the Kleiderei wants to collect garments and assemble them into a "large, shared wardrobe that is accessible to all" and thus sees itself explicitly as a counter-design to the fast-fashion industry.
It shares what already exists, extends the life of garments, achieves the maximum usage factor, brings variety into wardrobes and thus creates an alternative to fast fashion. Kleiderei shows that conscious consumption does not mean renunciation.
Since 2019, the team has been broadcasting their monthly radio show on dublab.de, mainly talking about topics related to textiles and sustainable fashion concepts. This is how Amelie and Anna - the music and fashion enthusiastic producers of the show - got to know each other. And so it wasn't long before they started recording and DJing mixes together.
Together, they represent a wide-ranging sound from electronic dance music to house and disco to global sound - often mixed with various rhythms and percussion. In the last few years they have proven in various Cologne locations that different genres are not necessarily mutually exclusive.
