((( STREAM ))) NICA Magazin presents: Sonae

The streaming series "NICA Magazine Presents" features a new episode every Monday with magazine features and previously unreleased concert footage from NICA Artists. Each show consists of three parts: A short interview, followed by concert footage and "High Five" with spontaneous improvisations. This time with producer, live performer and DJ Sonae.

Sonae is a producer, live performer and DJ of experimental electronic music; she is also part of the label collective Monika Werkstatt. Her debut album was released in 2015 on the Berlin-based label Monika Enterprise. This was followed by an artist residency at Klingklang Studio in Düsseldorf, the "Women in Computer Music" fellowship at CCRMA at Stanford University in California, and a Master's degree in Popular Music at Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. In 2018, her second album "I Started Wearing Black" was released, followed by "Music For People Who Shave Their Heads" in 2019 on London-based label Bit-Phalanx Music.

NICA Magazine is produced by an experienced editorial team - consisting of Martin Laurentius ("Jazzthing" and others), Felix Klopotek (Kölner Stadt-Revue and others) and Kornelia Vossebein (NICA) - in collaboration with Klangmalerei.tv. It is part of the "NICA artists development" programme of the state of NRW, produced by the "European Centre for Jazz and Contemporary Music" in the Stadtgarten Cologne. "NICA live" is a fixed part of the concert programme in the "Green Room" of the Stadtgarten. As soon as we can open the "Green Room" again, we will present the NICA Artists with their musical ideas and visions live in front of an audience there every Monday from 8pm. Until then, we will stream the format from the concert hall. The first edition is on May 10 with the Philip Zoubek Trio.
