Sélène Saint-Aimé Trio w/ Xavier Belin & Sonny Troupé
Sélène Saint-Aimé is an Afro-French double bass player, singer, poet and composer with Caribbean and West African roots. She studied with the internationally renowned bassists Ron Carter and Lonnie Plaxico as well as with the saxophonist and conceptual artist Steve Coleman. For her highly acclaimed first album Mare Undarum, Sélène was awarded the "Victoire du Jazz 2021" in the "Rising Star" category.
Sélène sometimes takes time out from touring to continue her research and musical studies. She is currently "Composer in Residence" at the Tropiques Atrium in Martinique and one of the winners of the Villa Albertine 2022 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Sélène has also co-founded a non-profit organization called Afropolis with Martinique percussionist Boris Reine-Adélaïde, with the aim of promoting and developing Martinique's traditional music.
