Paul Heller invites Julian & Roman Wasserfuhr

Timelines

With "Timelines", the current project by Julian & Roman Wasserfuhr, Paul Heller's concert series enters its summer break.

Both have been among the distinctive voices of German jazz for many years. Their playing is characterized by clear melodies, an open sound language and a fine sense of atmosphere - features that characterize the unmistakable "Wasserfuhr sound".

For their project Timelines, the brothers are once again working with two long-time friends: the Colombian bassist Camilo Villa, who now lives in Düsseldorf, and the Berlin-based German drummer Bodek Janke, whose musical influence can also be traced back to his Polish roots.

The four musicians have known each other since their early artistic careers, but had lost sight of each other for a long time. Their reunion now leads to a collaboration in which musical paths and experiences flow together across continents.

The quartet creates a lively, rhythmically present and at the same time melody-oriented band sound in which European jazz tradition and Latin American influences meet and combine to form an independent, open sound language. The music remains clearly structured, transparent and opens up plenty of room for sound colors and interaction.

The quartet is complemented by saxophonist Paul Heller, who has already played on several albums by the Wasserfuhr brothers and is closely associated with them both musically and as a friend. With his warm, characterful tone, wide stylistic range and keen sense of melodic dramaturgy, he adds a distinctive, virtuoso and narrative voice to the band's sound

"Timelines" features five musicians who, for the first time in this combination, bring their different musical experiences into a common, melodic and lively band sound.
