NICA streams: "Imaginarium - Hongkong/Köln"
A transcontinental multimedia experience combining music, technology and free improvisation.
Imaginarium – HK/Cologne is a real-time collaboration between musicians from Hong Kong and Germany. Connecting artists and audiences on opposite sides of the globe – in Freespace, Hong Kong and Stadtgarten, Cologne – the immersive experience explores the possibilities of enhanced real-time audio-visual technology. The result is a multimedia virtual and real-life free improvisation jam that encourages new encounters, new types of communication and new forms of musical and visual experimentation.
The premiere will take place during the Freespace Jazz Fest in Hong Kong. There, the musicians will perform live on stage in front of an audience at 20:00 local time, with the NICA artists playing in the Stadtgarten Köln (local time here 13:00). The event in Cologne is not open to the public, but will probably be able to be followed via live stream.
Imaginarium - HK/Cologne is co-presented and co-produced by Freespace Jazz Fest HK, Goethe-Institut Hong Kong and NICA artist development / Stadtgarten Köln, and is part of the mission to establish international platforms and initiate long-term artistic collaborations.
A big thank you goes to NetCologne, whose commitment made the necessary internet connection possible in the first place.
