NICA live: Stefan Schönegg presents Sara Cubarsi Solo / The International Nothing
Double bassist and composer Stefan Schönegg celebrates the exploration of silence in his own work and invites musicians who, like him, know how to create a lot from what is supposed to be very little. For the first ‘NICA live’ event at the Christuskirche which is outside of our common residence, he has invited both the psychoacoustic clarinet duo The International Nothing from Berlin and the Cologne-based violinist Sara Cubarsi.
Michael Thieke and Kai Fagaschinski from The International Nothing compose sound sculptures using multiphonics and beat frequencies as an integral part of their language. While both musicians may be known as improvisers, in this project they develop and play exclusively their own compositions, created with the greatest attention to detail and precision. The duo's music is released on the Japanese label Ftarri. Sara Cubarsi has performed as a soloist and chamber musician as well as a performer and composer in the United States and Europe. Her focus is on contemporary music. Constantly renewing the dialogue with herself, the composers and performance techniques that occupy her, Cubarsi impressively opens up unexpected sound horizons on her instrument. At Christuskirche, she will perform her play "Die blinde Kuh (Exvot V)" for the first time.
