NICA live: Kira Hummen presents schneid & Henry Lee

The concert series NICA live presents not only the music and projects of the NICA artists themselves, but also musicians and bands that they appreciate and would like to bring to a local audience. Singer Kira Hummen - NICA artist 2022 - is curating a double concert to her own taste for this summer evening and has invited musicians from Cologne to the stage of the Green Room.

Henry Lee is the Cologne-based artist, musician and publisher of the podcast minneola and the fanzine grapefruits Elisa Henriette Metz. Her debut album ‘TV IN THE CORNER’ was released on tétégé records in October 2022. On this album, Henry Lee combines lo-fi pop melodies reminiscent of bands such as Electrelane, Stereolab and Broadcast with noisy field recordings and warm synthesizers to create a sound that oscillates between dream pop and early radiophonic workshop experiments. Henry Lee's musical references are not nostalgic, rather her soft vocals create a melancholy that is located in a seemingly timeless here and now. Henry Lee's second album ‘EPIPHANIES’ will be released this year.

With a symbiosis of spherical cinematic pop, electronica and alternative rock, Cologne-based musician Julian Schneid and his project schneid create a melancholy, dreamy sound aesthetic reminiscent of artists such as Trentemøller, Bob Moses, Ólafur Arnalds, Ry X and Radiohead. With previous band projects such as the Secret sits, Julian Schneid has released several recordings as a singer and pianist and played concerts internationally. Julian Schneid has been fine-tuning the sound of his solo project since 2019 and has used the duration of the coronavirus pandemic in particular to refine it. The result will be released on 19 July 2024 on a self-titled album.
