Bienrain, an old Hessian field name referring to a gently sloping, grass-covered hill. An image that aspires to become a program: Saxophonist and NICA artist Jonas Engel explores gradients, transitions, and subtle nuances with this lineup, coming together for the first time.
Persian kamancheh player Niloufar Shiri joins forces with Serbian pianist Marina Džukljev, Austrian pianist Philip Zoubek, and drummer Dominik Mahnig from Switzerland. Five musicians, five musical backgrounds, and a shared, never-before-heard sound that bridges improvisation and composition.
