NICA live: Fabian Dudek / Human Interest

Saxophonist and composer Fabian Dudek has written a lot of new music in the past year and brought it to the stage in changing national and international line-ups. As part of the "NICA live" concert series, a world premiere can once again be experienced: Human Interest

The Cologne-based musician and NICA artist 2022 offers his fellow musicians the freedom to develop their individual expression in his compositions. Dudek himself steps back as an instrumentalist in many places, leaving space and occupying it with playful conciseness depending on the occasion. The Estonian pianist Kirke Karja took part in the world premiere of Dudek's "Day By Day" (Cologne Jazzweek 2023) last year. Cologne-based drummer Leif Berger and bassist David Helm also took part. The latter is also part of Dudek's quartet, which has just released its third album "Distant Skies, We Dream" (May 2024, Traumton Records). The collaboration with Tizia Zimmermann is a first for all involved. The accordionist, who lives in Switzerland, plays in various formations with a focus on contemporary music, free improvisation and experimental (noise) music.
