With the release of two tapes in 2024, the world will realize why maïa is one of the best observers in the Pengame. But now maïa is ready to show a facet of herself that no one has seen before. On the way to her debut album, which will be released in March next year, she is finding new voices and new influences that permeate her music like waves. Boundaries between French chanson and German are blurred - melodies are layered over street-music-like instruments and enveloped by hard drums and soaring harmonies. But maïa does not lose its core. Her lyrics are precise, playful and yet remain melancholy. They are "love letters", as maïa calls everything she writes, whether to a person, a feeling or a memory.

The first single on the album, "Aschenbecher", already shows where the journey is heading. Between tenderness and pleading appeal, maïa sings the words out of herself, which are dedicated to a lost love. "Hinter Meiner Zunge" is the name of maïa's upcoming album - and if you listen, you will quickly realize: maïa's new songs are never-sent love letters left between the pages of her notebook. She writes as if she is remembering and forgetting at the same time, whether reality or memory remains unclear, maïa remains only a silent observer.

Between French lightness and German directness, a sound emerges that seems familiar and yet sounds new. maïa opens up spaces in which vulnerability is not a contradiction to strength. And every word is an echo, a lost love letter.
