The so-called "Nouvelle Scène Francaise" is rich in imaginative and original characters. And Mathieu Boogaerts is not just one of them, but has been particularly influential and involved from the very beginning. The compilation series Le Pop even started with his song "Ondulé". However, Boogaerts' career began in the mid-nineties with his debut album "Super", a mix of chanson and beat. Most recently, he released his ninth masterpiece, the haunting and varied "Grand piano", for which he was celebrated by the French press. Boogaerts is the master of the gentle groove. He naturally combines African and Caribbean rhythms with European pop and an unmistakable French poetry - his own personal touch. And "Grand Piano" shows once again that there is much more behind the ostensibly humorous mask and that he is rightly counted among the big names of the new chanson by the experts. Mathieu Boogaerts creates a musical universe that is as big as that of his contemporaries Dominique A or Katerine. He is rarely seen on stage in Germany. Not to be missed.
