Frederik Köster: The transformation
This quartet is living up to its name again. Frederik Köster, Sebastian Sternal, Joscha Oetz and Jonas Burgwinkel are joining forces more diversely than ever before on the new album Golden Age. "Sensitive to energetic interactions that ... leave stylistic boundaries behind" is how the FAZ calls the music, which combines Köster's brilliant trumpet sound with electronic effects and elegantly bridges the gap between Europe, the Balkans and the Middle East.

Brötzmann / Leigh
Saxophonist Peter Brötzmann and steel guitarist Heather Leigh are an impressive duo. Their encounters become compositions in play when they forge their motifs from the complaints of their instruments. From sparking speed to deep soul and great poetry, from festival performances to intimate club gigs, they electrify audiences in Europe, North America, New Zealand, Japan and Australia. The Rolling Stone also cheers for their "earthy, deeply touching blues".

Skúli Sverrisson - Seria
Icelandic bassist and film composer Skúli Sverisson has worked in various genres with Laurie Anderson, Lou Reed, Bill Frisell and many others. With Jóhan Jóhannson and Ryuichi Sakamoto he developed film music for Sicario and The Revenant. The formation SERIA, with the Icelandic singer Ólöf Arnalds, moves between traditional songwriting and orchestral brilliance. All About Jazz enthuses: "a quiet terrain that conjures up extremely strong images."

10 years KLAENG Festival
Ten years of KLAENG collective also mean ten years of KLAENG Festival. This collective festival has long since developed into a European hotspot for contemporary, improvised music. As with the six KLAENGstern, the success of this three-day autumn festival is based above all on its cross-genre and cross-style concept, in which the highly diverse musical preferences of the collective are processed and presented to the audience.
And the programme for the tenth anniversary of the KLAENG Festival also follows this path - with one difference: for the first time an "Artist in Residence" was invited. The American pianist and organist Larry Goldings will take on this task from 22 to 24 November and will also be performing twice on stage during the festival: with his ancestral organ trio with guitarist Peter Bernstein and drummer Bill Stewart on the opening evening, while he concludes this year's festival with his three-day "Köln Experience" - the name of this unique project - behind him. In between there are performances of Peter Brötzmann and Heather Leigh, Köster's successful band "Die Verwandlung", the Danish pianist Jacob Anderskov plus Strings or Spoom around the Berlin guitarist Ronny Graupe.
