Kira Linns „Her Wings“
Baritone saxophonist and composer Kira Linn presents her new large ensemble, Her Wings. Poems by FLINTA writers such as Emily Dickinson, Amy Lowell, and Sappho form the core of her compositions. In them, she blends jazz and improvisation with singer-songwriter elements.
The texts, some of which are more than a hundred years old, take on a new musical form and thereby gain contemporary relevance. Between fully composed passages and improvisational freedom, a multi-layered soundscape emerges that highlights the individual expressiveness of each musician.
With “Her Wings,” Kira Linn fulfills her long-cherished wish to found her own large ensemble—while also providing a new stage for authors whose words continue to touch and move us to this day.
