Kaisa's Machine
Kaisa's Machine – Nordischer Noir trifft auf New Yorker Glitzer
The band of Finnish, New York-based double bassist and composer Kaisa Mäensivu is a powerhouse that has been praised as a "band of young aces" (New York Times) and "refreshingly inventive" (All About Jazz). Led by the strong, highly musical bass presence of Mäensivu, Kaisa's Machine's music is sometimes bouncy and groovy, sometimes thought-provoking about the mysteries and tragedies of life. With their third studio album Moving Parts, which was released on 14.03.25 by Greenleaf Music, the quartet is going on tour in Europe - and will also be coming to the Stadtgarten.
Mäensivu's imaginative playing is in demand in Finland and internationally. She is the founder of the group Kaisa's Machine and has played with her band at festivals and clubs all over the world, including the North Sea Jazz Festival, The Jazz Gallery, Ronnie Scott's, Bimhuis and the Ljubljana Jazz Festival, to name but a few. Mäensivu is also a regular guest performer with other groups and has collaborated with artists such as Kurt Rosenwinkel, Dave Kikoski, Seamus Blake and Tim Hagans.
