Time Place Action combines two opposing principles: ambient, field recordings and musique concrète use musical means sparingly: as few sounds as possible create maximum atmosphere. Jazz musicians, on the other hand, use the full range of their musical expression to react sensitively, agilely and communicatively to their surroundings. Jens Düppe and Gregor Schwellenbach bring both approaches together in their collaboration. The audio recordings take the listener to places from Guyana to the foothills of the Alps; they are memories of encounters, landscapes and the family histories of the band members. The result is a poetry reminiscent of Luc Ferrari's musique anecdotique. Frederik Köster (tp), Lars Duppler (p), Christian Ramond (kb) and Jens Düppe (dr) respond sensitively, with openness and joy of playing.
