Ursula Wienken's "SUMMIT" unfolds in vocal-electroacoustic soundscapes. Rooted in the rich traditions of Afro-American and Brazilian music, the quintet immerses itself in an intimate and rhythmically captivating musical journey. Ursula's compositions sensitively explore the peaks of anxiety, the beauty of new beginnings, the strength of empowerment and the whimsical world of the capivaras.

Wienken on the formation and history of the band:
"In the fall of 2022, I initiated this project to free ourselves from the constraints of jazz expectations and the pressures of the music scene. The goal was to create authentic music and honor the kind of music that I believe deserves more attention. Together with my experienced fellow musicians from Cologne - Simon Bräumer on drums, Leon Hattori on Fender Rhodes, Merle Böwering on vocals and Adrian Gallet on tenor saxophone - we dare to transcend musical genres, honor traditions and dare to have our own collective voice. In 2023 we were allowed to record under Stefan Deistler at LOFT, Cologne - the songs will be released on September 20th on stssts-Records."
